Richard is a Senior Manager within the global ACO Group, a family owned German business, and also Vice-Chairman of their UK subsidiary, ACO Technologies plc. Prior to this he was the full time Managing Director of the UK business for over 23 years. After nearly three decades of being an active participant in the merchant - supplier industry, Richard is very proud to currently be the Chairman of the lead trade organisation for the sector, The Builders Merchant Federation.

Richard is a Trustee of the Built Environment Trust, a Trust whose aim is ‘to inspire, connect and empower people to improve the quality of our built environment’. The Trust also runs, via a subsidiary, The Building Centre at Store Street, London, where Richard is the Non-Executive Chair.

Richard has, until recently, been the President of the Plastic Pipes Group section of the British Plastics Federation and remains on the Groups’ Council Richard has been a Trustee of CRASH, the construction industries charity helping homelessness and hospice charities, and a member of the CBI East of England Regional Council, both for the maximum two terms of office.

Richard is honoured to be a member of the Worshipful Company of Builders Merchants, currently serving on the Court and will become Master in October 2022. Earlier in his career Richard qualified as an accountant, following an initial career in merchant and investment banking in the City of London. In his spare time Richard and his wife Katja like to spend time with their family and grandchildren, his classic cars and an ever growing collection of books.
