Chris Bence

Chris's work across his family business, local community and charity work and support of national buying groups such as Fortis and NIMBS over 7 decades deserves industry recognition for his achievements over more than a lifetime.

Most importantly from a work aspect, he is determined to keep in the family, one of the oldest businesses in the UK, by remaining staunchly independent and by already establishing the next line of succession.

The appointment of his son Paul Bence, who himself has now had over 2 decades of experience at the family business, as Managing Director, and with the outright purchase of all the remaining family shares, will ensure uninhibited long term growth & success for the future.    

In 2024 Chris was honoured at the Builders' Merchants Awards by being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
