Mark Davies

As the Winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022, Mark Davies takes his place as one of the Judges for the 2023 Builders’ Merchants Awards. He has worked for LBS Builders’ Merchants for over 40 years. LBS has grown from a one to a 36 branch business and is the largest independent builders’ merchant in South Wales. During Mark’s years at LBS he has seen most things; in 2008 when sales in August were 40% lower than July and the challenges that brought, to 2021 which was a record year with LBS’ best ever Profit Share payout.

He has seen the diversification of the business with the introduction of dedicated civils branches, roofing branches and kitchen & bathroom showrooms. He has ensured vertical integration in the business with the purchase of a timber manufacturing and engineering plant and has created a dedicated plumbers’ merchant, Total Plumbing, now comprising 16 branches. LBS now also has a successful online business that stands alone supplying UK wide and further.
